Last week, we learned about God keeping people on track with God's dream. This time, we are focusing on God's promise and purpose for Abram & Sarai.
Genesis chapter 12:1-3; 15:5-6, God Calls Abram & Sarai.
God told Abram to go into a new land and God will make a great nation, bless Abram, and make his name great so that he will be a blessing. God's promise was to make Abram a great nation, a huge family. God's purpose for Abram was for him to be a blessing.
ASK: What do you think blessing means?
The thing was, Abram & Sarai didn't have any children and they were very old. So what do you think Abram said?
ASK: I wonder how Abram was feeling when God told him about his huge family?
Well, Abram decided to go! He packed his whole household or clan and started on God's journey. They didn't know where they were going or how they would get there. But they trusted God's promise and purpose for their lives.
PRAY:
God, wherever we go, you are near. Wherever we go, we need not fear. Wherever we go, your love goes too. Wherever we go, we're with you. Amen.
