Historic Bethesda, founded as a colonial-era orphanage by the Rev. George Whitefield at the behest of James Oglethorpe, also figures into the history of St. Peter’s. The school’s chapel was the first home to our fledgling congregation from 1960-1962. Today we support the staff of this school for young men in grades 6-12, through our annual Angel Tree ministry. Each angel on the Christmas tree has a wish from a teacher for something they want for their classroom. Parishioners fulfill those wishes. St. Peter’s Outreach is learning about more ways to share our gifts with Bethesda Academy.
